Project Updates May 5-10, 2020
The rehabilitation of Maryland Ave NE continues from 2nd to 14th Street with work this week including:
Team setup lane closures on westbound and eastbound lanes of MD Avenue NE, demolished utility trenches excavated subbase, placed base course and PCC base between the 8th street and 9th street intersections in approximate stations: 33+36 to 31+87 and utility trenches at 11th street intersection between the proposed electric Manholes MH 11.03-MH 11.05.
Team continued the excavation and installation of sewer manhole MH-36. Performed a test pit for the 18” PCC pipe installation between sewer manhole MH-36 and existing sewer manhole EX/MH-2.
The electrical crew installed traffic signal poles and a streetlight pole within the 4th Street and Massachusetts Avenue. Installed four #16 Cast Iron pole and one transformer base between 3rd and 4th Street along Maryland Avenue. Installed three temporary concrete bases with 20-foot poles to the site.
Washington Gas was onsite to adjust the elevation of the existing gas line crossing over the basin connection pipe near Storm inlet I-5 and sewer manhole MH-29.
Team set up lane closures on westbound and eastbound lanes of MD Avenue NE, demolished existing median excavated subbase, placed base course and PCC base between the 7th street and 8th street intersections.
Team placed 2” asphalt over the PCC base trenches repair along the 11th street intersection between the proposed electric manhole MH 11.03 and MH 11.05 and at the median between the 8th and 9th streets intersections, stations: 33+36 to 31+87.
· The team continued backfilling around sewer manhole MH-36 and placed 2-inches of temporary asphalt in the roadway. Backfilled the test pit location from the previous workday.
The team continued installation of the Basin Connect PCC Pipe Class III 15-Inch and concrete encased between sewer manhole MH-29 and inlet I-5. on Maryland Avenue between 3rd Street and 4th Street. .
Continued sewer manhole MH-3 and inlet I-3 frame and cover reset. Continued 18” RCP basin connect pipe between sewer MH-36 and MH-31.

Construction team continued inlet I-5 installation on Maryland Avenue between 3rd Street and 4th Street
